Why We Built This Site
North Carolina gives the public broad access to many court records, while statutes and court rules still protect sealed, juvenile, expunged, and restricted records. The hard part is figuring out which office holds the file you want. In Polk County, the Clerk of Superior Court handles court files, dockets, indexes, judgments, traffic matters, divorce judgments, and estates, while the elected clerk also serves as ex officio judge of probate. The District Court and magistrates handle many lower-trial matters, and the Sheriff manages jail, arrest, incident, and warrant-related resources. Only the issuing court or government office can provide a certified copy with an official seal. We can point you to the right office, but the document has to come from them.
